Here is a little secret: we have been quietly building up a library of fabulous breakfast and brunch recipes here on Cook the Vineyard. Okay, maybe it’s not a total secret, but since we have so many new readers every week, I thought I’d do a refresh on how to find recipes, including that fabulous breakfast collection:
On our recipe index page, you can search for recipes four ways:
- By ingredient (Apples, Arugula, Asparagus…)*
- By type of dish (Appetizers, Bread and Pizza, Breakfast…)
- By order of posting — most recent first (Caramelized Sweet Potato Halves with Custom Toppings, Cinnamon Apple Skillet Cake, Harvest Salad with Fresh and Grilled Vegetables)
- And of course, by our internal Google search
* The ingredient search appears on every page of the website, on the right-hand side.
And if you click on Breakfast, you are in for a treat – many treats. (More on our favorites below). Recently, though, I was going through the collection and noticed a hole – a waffle hole. Quelle horreur – no waffle recipe! I immediately got in touch with Abby Dodge and asked her to come to the rescue. Voila, All Day, Any Day Waffles. Indeed, I say. I could most certainly make and eat these crisp-on-the-outside, tender-on-the-inside buttermilk waffles at a moment’s notice. With both butter and oil in the batter for crispness and flavor, a touch of vanilla, a bit of salt, and plenty of eggs, the flavor rivals the texture. You can use any waffle iron; here's a list of Wirecutter's top picks. And find more waffle tips in Baking Together #37.
And since we’re in refresh mode, Abby and I thought it would be a good time to remind you about her Six Steps to Better Baking. Armed with that, you’ll have great success with all of Abby’s 37 Baking Together Recipes.
Now for the sake of economy, I offer you a curated selection of our favorite breakfast and brunch dishes, knowing you’ll know where to find more:
