You may have trouble choosing. And you may not be able to get out of the shop without buying something for yourself. But you will most definitely walk out with something delicious that will make your chocolate-loving Valentine (that would be, um, everyone) very happy. Kathleen Cowley’s Enchanted Chocolates on 4 Chapman Ave. in Oak Bluffs will be open from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Friday, February 14. (Regular hours are Wednesday through Saturday, 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.).

In addition to everything else, there will be milk chocolate-dipped strawberries on Valentine’s Day. And you can purchase a heart-shaped box filled with your choice of chocolates.

If you’re a regular at the West Tisbury Farmers’ Market (or you’ve picked up one of those little brown bags at Cronig’s or Alley’s General Store), you probably have tasted Enchanted Chocolates’ famous double-dipped Almond Butter Crunch or the addictive Homemade Sea-Salted Caramels (a.k.a Pirate Food, finished with MV Sea Salt) — the two bestsellers.

Kathleen, who’s been in business making handmade chocolates for 17 years, says two of the reasons they’re so delicious is that she uses 72 percent cacao dark chocolate, and she hand-makes both the butter crunch and the caramel.

Kathleen’s panned chocolates, like chocolate-covered Cape Cod cranberries and chocolate-covered espresso beans, are also popular and are available at the store, along with her signature handmade chocolate bars, fudge, chocolate bark (peppermint, hazelnut, cranberry orange and more), and a variety of handmade chocolates from sea turtles to chocolate-dipped candied ginger to nonpareils. A half-pound of handmade candy is $13 or $14, depending on the type. Chocolate bars are $7. Heart-shaped boxes to fill are $4 or $5 (plus the cost of the chocolate).

If you can’t get down to the Oak Bluffs store, or if you’re looking to send chocolate — or get personalized chocolate for wedding favors — visit the shop online at enchantedchocolates.net.
